We spent 6 long days the week of new year's in Salt Lake City, UT. I was absolutely miserable! Jeremiah's younger brother got married and we flew there to attend the reception. That is another story.
Anyway, we arrived 12/28 and flew back 1/3. It snowed the first day or two and the snow NEVER melted. Every time I turned around I was looking at a mountain. I felt so claustrophobic! The people were different and definitely lacked TX hospitality. The entire week I felt like I lived in a bubble or something. I am so glad to be back home in the dry, flat, and real world! UT was not kind to me at all and I was EXTREMELY disappointed by the people there.
Moving on, here's the week in review...
Monday, 12/28 - We arrived in SLC that night and had an oven pizza for dinner.
Tuesday, 12/29 - We ran a few errands with Jason and Angela in the snow. When we made it back to the house, Jason's street was iced over and we couldn't make it up the hill where he lived. We had to park on the street behind his house and WALK uphill to the house...in the SNOW!
I should've known that this was a sign of how my week was going to go!
Wednesday, 12/30 - Against my will, we went sledding.
Here's Jeremiah LOVING the snow. I think we took this before we went sledding.
We were suppose to meet Angela's (Jason's new wife) brother and his family at a park to go sledding. Angela took us to the wrong park and we waited in the freezing cold for 20 minutes only to find out that we were at the wrong park. Thanks Anj. Again, I was freezing and 90 degrees past irritated. Being the sweetheart that he is, my dear sweet husband tried to cheer me up by making me a snowman. It was the sweetest gesture! Then he killed it!!!
This moment put me in a better mood for the rest of the day! I love Jeremiah :o)
My sexy beast!
Jason (aka Uncle Trouble) volunteered to keep Scarlett warm by tucking her in his pants. It was cute and Scarlett didn't cry once! She tolerated the cold way better than I did.
All comfy and ready to go sledding!
Scarlett's first attempt at sledding with Uncle Trouble! Jeremiah and I love her face and her laugh at the end of the video.
Scarlett waiting impatiently to go sledding with daddy. I love the evil look! Jeremiah needed a moment to check something at work. Honestly, we're suppose to be on "vacation"!
Then it was my turn to go with Scarlett. Jeremiah recorded this...can't you tell?!
Here we are after our day of sledding! Don't you just love Scarlett's rosy cheeks?!
Angela, Jason, Navie, & the Texas Pricketts!
Back at home after a day of sledding. Look how much it snowed that day! My feet were completely covered!
Sledding was actually fun...until I started freezing. So we packed up and went home.
More of us!
Thursday, 12/31 - We visited Temple Square!!! It was awesome! People actually smiled and were genuinely nice! Suddenly, I realized that Temple Square made my SLC trip worthwhile. This was the BEST day in UT and my spirits were uplifted by the end of the day.
It's still snowing. I'm not sure when J took this one and I certainly don't remember him taking it. I was probably venting to someone in TX and wishing I was back home.
Mommy, here is a picture of the mountains that I saw EVERYDAY! I know how much you love the mountains so I took a picture just for you. I hope you like it :)
Now we're talking! Off to see Temple Square!!! Here we are approaching the temple. I was so excited that I didn't notice those wires until I looked back and saw the pictures hours later.
1st stop, the conference center! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Mormon Tabernacle Choir! J let me spend as much time as I wanted here and I did. I soaked in every square inch of this place! I still can't believe that I was actually standing in the same place where the MoTab performs. I was stoked!
I made this video mostly for me because I wanted to record my experience. However, feel free to jump into my excitement!
Somewhere on the balcony of the conference center. Scarlett is hysterical! Who knows what she was doing.
I took this picture because I wanted to capture the statues of the prophets. My sister Maria pointed out that the temple was in the background. Again, I was so excited that I didn't notice that the temple was in the background when I took this picture.
These sisters were our tour guides for the day in the conference center. They were AWESOME!!! In fact, I liked them so much, I even shared my starburst with them :o)
2nd stop...the temple! Sort of. We ran out of time and didn't have time to step one foot inside the temple. The funny thing is that I was okay with this. #1, I saw the conference center and truly enjoyed myself. #2, there was no way I was going inside the temple with jeans on! #3, I'm sure Jeremiah will be dragging me back to Utah in 5 years for Jason's next wedding reception. So, I'll just see the temple then.
Jeremiah & Jason.
Jason & Freeborn.
Jason lives in Cedar Hills. Every night and day I had the distinct pleasure of looking at the Draper Temple. I liked it the best at night because it was illuminated and so beautiful. He has the greatest view from his house. Remember a few pictures up when I was on the phone venting? Chances are I was looking at this very temple. Sorry it's out of focus but this was the best that we could do. This was our last night in UT, yay!!!
Sunday, 1/3 - Next to Scarlett's blessing day, this was the best sabbath day EVER. Why? At 6am we were on a plane to TX! WOO HOO!
I told you it was a long post. Hope you enjoyed the pics. After visiting UT for a week, I have a new appreciation for many things: diversity, my rear wheel drive, a baby that doesn't cry or need to be held every 20 mins, a man who is not impatient, a backbone that I am not afraid to use, and TX hospitality! I gotta tell ya, it is so good to be back home in TX!!! May God continue to bless this great state of ours :o)
