Sophia's Many Faces

May 20th was another great visit!  This little girl is hysterical.  Lynette kept making all of these faces and I had to capture them all.  She's was still doing well on her high flow.  Cardio has officially taken her off of the books for heart surgery.  However, she will have to have her PDA valve removed and her coarctation of the aorta repaired before her first birthday.  Otherwise, she'll have high blood pressure for the rest of her life.  Hopefully, we can get all of this done before the holidays.  Anyway, she's gaining weight and is truly looking better everyday.  This was a great day, too!

Relaxing.

Yawning.

Sneezing.

Hanging out.

Smilling.

Playing.

May 14th...Baby's 1st Playdate

The day after Mother's Day was fantastic!  Lynette had her first playdate with mommy and daddy.  We were able to bounce her around and really interact with her.  It was nice to handle her and treat her like a real baby.  Usually, she doesn't like a lot of stimulation so this was a real treat.

This was the first time I held her over my shoulder.

Still playing and getting tired.

Worn out and ready for a nap.

This was on May 19th.  On May 17th baby girl went on high flow oxygen.  I took this one for Jeremiah since she was wearing this onesie.

Mother's Day

Honestly, I don't remember much about Mother's Day.  We went to church, took some pictures at home, I received my gifts, and then we were off to the hospital.  I guess the important thing is that I remember being surrounded by my family.  It was a good day and I'm grateful that I have the opportunity to stay at home to raise my family.  Is my family perfect?  No, but they are mine and are perfect for me.  I wouldn't trade my crew for anything.  Well, for the right amount I might trade them for some sleep and peace, LOL!  Anyway, here are some pictures from my Mother's Day!

My gift from Mr. Man.  More black and white diamonds!  I couldn't decide if I liked this one or the heart from our anniversary better.  So, I got both!  One for each occasion...he he he!

The official Mother's Day family picture.  I forgot to tell Jeremiah to take his sunglasses off.  Who knows what everyone else was doing.

The girls and I!

I came to the realization that our family is growing.  Pretty soon I'll have to start asking strangers to take our pictures because the arm thing isn't working anymore.  All of us can barely fit in a picture these days!

Elizabeth made this card and had Scarlett and Savannah sign it.  The card reads "Happy Mother's Day.  1st MOM.  Mommy you totally and utterly deserve it!  You deserve it!"

Scarlett made this in nursery.  It's the sweetest poem!

Savannah made this one in nursery, too.  I love how her hand is bigger than Scarlett's.  By the way, they both weigh 28lbs!

Sniff sniff.  Miss. Sophia Lynette made this for me.  We got to the hospital the Friday before Mother's Day and this was on the sofa in her room waiting for me!  It's a pillow case.

Seriously.  Isn't this precious?!  THIS will probably be the best Mother's Day gift from her ever.

Our Anniversary

May 12th was our anniversary!  We went to the hospital to spend time with Lynette and then we were off to linner...a meal between lunch and dinner.  We call it linner because we're cool like that!  After trying to decide on a new resturant to try, we stuck to our tried and true Pappadeaux's.  As always, we ate way too much.  Oh, and the waitress even gave us a complimentray dessert because it was our anniversary!  By the end of our meal, we determined our marriage was pretty awesome and decided to renew our contract with each other for another couple of years!

Over linner we discussed how we accomplished everything we set out to do.  We said we would get married in the temple and we did.  We said we would buy a house and we did.  We talked about getting me a new car and we did...sort of.  The Kia Rio was for me but it was a standard and I didn't know how to drive one.  Jeremiah taught me but I never drove it "right".  So he kept it.  I don't remember being mad about it but it worked out GREAT!  I ended up with his Rodeo and that is when I discovered the wonderful world of SUV's!  When my minivan days are over, I'll be the proud owner of a SUV again!  Anyway, we said we would have children and we did.  We also discussed the first time we said I love you to each other :o)

I forgot what the dessert was called but it was pretty good.  It was two slices of cheesecake with a variety of fruit.  The top slice sat on top of another slice.

I pulled a Jeremiah.  I waited until the last second and made a silly face.

Happy anniversary to us!

He suckered me into this one.

My anniversary present was a heart necklace with black and white diamonds.

The fun part of our discussion was reliving of our wedding day.  Jeremiah's favorite part was picking me up before heading to the temple.  My favorite part was forgetting to exchange rings, LOL!  Who forgets to exchange rings?!  I remembered the rings after everyone pretty much left our sealing room.  So, we exchanged rings with only our sealer present...I think.  It actually worked out because with all of the craziness of a wedding day, that was one of our most intimate moments at the temple..for me anyway.

As you can imagine, it got hot in this dress.  At one moment, there was a huge gust of wind.   I turned toward it to try to cool off.  Mission accomplished!  We were in the middle of taking pictures and I just stopped.  To this very day, Jeremiah is still patient with me...WITH EVERYTHING!  I didn't know this picture was taken until I went through the pics later.

Hair Bows

A friend of mine made a ton of bows for Sophia.  Thank you, Romy!  When I got to the hospital, I put baby girl to work and she did great.  We had a huge photo shoot and it was so much fun!  The nurse kept coming in to check on us and I was still snapping away while she talked.  I am obsessed with Lynette's hair...with her, too!

I'm glad that I took these yesterday because Lynette is back on her bubble CPAP.  That means that she's off life support, YAY!!!  That also means that I can't brush her hair because she has to wear a cap when she's on the CPAP.  Anyway, she's back to breathing on her own.  Her lungs sound acceptable and her heart is still making tiny improvements.  Good job baby girl!!!  And you look FABULOUS!

Extubated & Intubated

The day after my last post was an exciting day at the hospital.  Usually, when there are two nurses watching our sweet baby, one is a regular nurse and the other one is an orientee.  An orientee is someone that recently graduated from nursing school and is paired with a veteran RN.  Anyway, the orientee from last Monday decided that she wanted to undo Lynette's safety pin so that Lynette could stretch out.  I told Ms. Orientee to watch her because Lynette is notorious for pulling out her tubes.  I barely sat down and Ms. Orientee is yelling for her partner.  She was telling him that Sophia had pulled her tubes.  Yep.  Our baby extubated herself.  In lamens terms, she pulled out her breathing tube!

Before I new it, two nurses turned into six or seven.  Lynette was actually breathing on her own for a few seconds.  Then she turned blue and wasn't breathing at all.  After resuscitating her, she turned red because she was being intubated.  In lamens terms, her breathing tube was being put in again.  Oh, baby girl was MAD!  Jeremiah had to stand on the sofa to get an aerial view because there were so many people in the room.  The alarms were going off in the hall, on the monitors, and on the nurses.  It was CHAOS!  Allllllllll because Ms. Orientee wanted Sophia to stretch out?!  WTH?!?!  After twenty minutes Lynette was stable.  In another fifteen minutes the room had cleared out and everything was back to normal.  I told Ms. Orientee "the name Prickett.  Learn it.  Know it. Fear it.  This baby is no joke.  You have to watch her because she WILL pull her tubes out."  Needless to say, the safety pin went back on.

When we went back the next day, I noticed her hair was blonde again!  Maybe it's more strawberry blonde but it's absolutely gorgeous!

I don't know what is up with this girl's hair!  You should see it in person!

After obsessing over her hair, I noticed that Miss. Sophia was pinned to a rubber band that was pinned to her bed.  After the previous days events, the senior nurse decided to give Lynette a little more flexibility.  Probably to appease Miss. Orientee.

By Saturday she was like this.  Swaddled and tied down!  Don't feel bad for her.  I'm telling you.  The girl has to be controlled.  She's strong AND feisty!
