I Mean What I Say

I'll try to make this long and very frustrated story short. Several months ago, Liz entered this phase where she wanted to do her own hair. She has some SERIOUS thick and curly hair. I showed her how she needed to take care of it and she has REFUSED to do her hair properly.

The last straw came the night before the first day of school. She asked me to flat iron it because she wanted to wear it straight for the first day. When I started her hair, I tried to part it and I couldn't even reach the scalp. Why? Because she washed her hair the night before and went to bed with wet AND tangled hair!!! Apparently, she left her hair products at her cousins house after spending the week with them. Since she didn't have any products, she decided to go to bed. She didn't even comb it out. She could have at least done that! She could've come to me for help. But nooooo! She chose to be lazy instead.

By the grace of God, I managed to work through the tangles and the flat ironing was finally over. I looked her in the eye and I told her, "if you EVER go to bed with wet and tangled hair again, I will cut it off! Don't test me. I mean what I say." Guess what? One week later, she let it happened AGAIN! Guess what else? We were off to Great Clips!!! The stylist across from us had time to give haircuts to 3 different people and Liz was still in the chair having her hair worked on. After 35 or 40 mins, we were finally done and I was quite pleased with the results.

I didn't get any "before" pictures because I was SO mad I didn't even think about it. I told her, if she goes to bed with wet and tangled hair again, I will cut it all off and she will go bald. I am happy to report that Liz has been doing her hair PROPERLY every since it has been cut. Ironically, she loves it, too! Now that it's short enough, I think she's able to manage it much better. Her hair is still pretty wet in the picture below. When it's dry, it is much shorter and very cute!

Pssst & Coot

Last Wednesday night Jeremiah and Scarlett had the following conversation at the kitchen table.

Scarlett: Daddy?
J: Yes, baby?
Scarlett: Mommy's "pssst"
J: Mommy's what???
Scarlett: Mommy's "pssst"
J: Ohhh! Mommy's pissed?
Scarlett: Yes...Daddy?
J: Yes, baby?
Scarlett: Mommy's coot.
J: What?
Scarlett: Mommy's coot.
J: Ohhh! Mommy's cute?!
Scarlett: Yes.
J: So let me get this straight. Mommy's pissed and cute???
Scarlett: Yes.

I assure you that pissed is NOT in Scarlett's everyday vocabulary. In fact, I don't know where she may have heard pissed. I don't say that word and Jeremiah says "ticked" but not pissed. I'm feeling dirty just typing it!

Anyway, in my defense, Wed was a weird day for me. I felt sluggish and tired...all. Day. Long. So when Scarlett saw me unlike myself, I guess she thought that I was pissed off. I don't know where the cute came from (we do say cute on a daily basis) because I've looked a mess all week long. Maybe her mother will always look cute to her :o) I digress. Anyway, I feel fine most of the time but sometimes I get hit with a wave of tiredness. Thank the Lord I haven't had any morning sickness or nausea. Other than that, Jr. and I are just fine!

BTW, I've already decided that I am having a boy. If I profess it long and hard enough, maybe it will come to fruition. Hope springs eternal!

My coot little girl is growing up so fast!
